In the beginning was the word. Do not underestimate the power of the dark side. I have a dream. Do you hear the people sing? If body A exerts a force on body B, body B exerts a force of equal magnitude and opposite direction on body A. I am the very model of a modern major general. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. The day the music died. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. You can check out any time you like but you can never leave. Jesus wept. And we will fight them on the beaches. In the town where I was born, there lived a man who sailed to sea. I'll be back. In olden days a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking. D'oh. You turn if you want to. Rock-and-roller cola wars; I can't take it any more. I fart in your general direction. Why did the chicken cross the road? We're off to see the wizard. Four-and-twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. God save the queen. Choose life. All the world's a stage. Relax. Don't do it. To boldly go where no man has gone before. One small step for a man. Ti: a drink with jam and bread. The land of the free and the home of the brave. I thought I was enamoured of an ass. Hakuna matata. It's the cold and it's the broken hallelujah. Grease is the word. Don't stop me now

In the beginning was the word, and grease is the word.

I sat and laughed, reading this livejournal post. Thank you.

chiquita, you put the so in awesome.

The scary thing is when I saw "Choose Life", I immediately thought "Frankie Says Relax".

*points*

child of the eighties!

It's not my fault the shirts were so damn similar!

Eliza? Is that you?

yay for the Lion King! *sneaky grin*

...I got most of those.

I wonder, though, whether "In olden days a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking." (one of the references I don't know; Pygmalion, perhaps?) has "upon" rather than "on" in the original since that makes for a better rhythm IMO.

It's from Anything Goes, by (I think) Cole Porter and/or Noel Coward, and I'm damned if I can remember what musical it's from. If you know the tune, it's definitely '...was looked on' that scans better.

Guess what's going to be stuck in my head all night now.
