It occurs to me that I've read my friends page approximately once in the past 6 weeks. This is partly because I'm on holiday and not spending so much time on the Internet, but mainly because I'm spending what was LiveJournal time over on Dreamwidth instead.

As such, I'm going to be defriending a whole lot of people here, with the aim of making my friends page a whole lot more readable. Anyone who is friended here is welcome to be added to my access list on Dreamwidth, either on my main account, or on the archive account that I imported all my LJ entries onto. If you want to be added, let me know. If you don't have a DW account, either log in with OpenID or ask me and I can provide you with an invite code.

But yes, if I defriend you, please don't be offended. It's nothing personal.

I'm also considering crossposting my DW entries onto LJ now. I figure that anyone who I could have tempted onto DW tht way will already be there now. If I do crosspost, I'll have comments disabled on here and link to the DW version instead. I want to keep comments all in one place. Is this something that people would want or not?

Edit: This just in, via email:

Hi rho,

rho has removed you from their Friends list.

You can:

- Remove rho from your Friends list

Thanks for that, LJ.

OHNOES YOU DEFRIENDED ME I THOUGHT YOU LIKED ME ;_;

HOW EVER WILL I BE ABLE TO READ YOUR ENTRIES NOW?

I CANNOT THINK HOW. IT'S NOT LIKE I POST MY ENTRIES ON A DIFFERENT SERVICE OR ANYTHING.

OH WAIT.

I still read, (and comment) but I don't use Dreamwidth and never go there. Incidentally, as all my posts are friends only, defriending my account means you cannot actually read any of my posts - that would be true of anybody else's account too.

As long as you still have Rho on your friends list, she can read your friends-only posts - just not on her friends page.

It kind of defeats the symmetry of the LiveJournal friendship system though. I tend to remove after a week or so anyone who isn't a mutual friend, because I take the view that it needs to be a two-way street, at least in principal.

I pretty much won't be posting anything of significance to Dreamwidth, but it's not like I'm really a high volume poster. Still, I'm not moving, so if you're interested in what I have to say, it'll be here on LJ.

I'm crossposting, because a lot of my friends haven't moved, and some aren't going to (at least one has said so), but that's a different motivation from tempting people to move over there with me.

You know how I'm doing it--DW is my minimal, RL-people-only blog, and LJ is my regular one. So keep me here, k? :)

I would very much like it if you crossposted to here. As often as you check LJ is about as often as I check DW... sooooo. No problems going over there to comment. I'm not some weird comment possessive freak. (You will also note that I only comment on average once every 15 years)

I know we don't interact much any more, but I still like reading your posts :). I tried reading DW for a bit, even made an account and ported my posts, but I haven't been back for a while because most of the people who went are crossposting from DW to LJ, but people on LJ aren't posting to DW.

Hi rho,

No you can't, because she isn't there. She ninja-removed-herself from your Friends list! :o

Really, you should get in a flame war with that rho person about the defriending thing. I mean, really.

Hey. I'll miss you.

Is it worth reminding people about rho_dw perhaps?

(at least, that's how I'm reading your DW posts, and I don't see why that doesn't address all of the "I won't be able to read your posts" / "I'm not moving to Dreamwidth" worries above. But then I'm no expert in *Journal technicalities and politics...)

I'd like to be added to the archive account -- I am somewhat prone to going back and looking at people's old entries, and I would like to be able to do that still.
