Once upon a time there was an elf called Thomas. Thomas lived on his own in a small hut in the woods. He liked being alone more than he liked being with other elves because he didn't think the other elves liked him. Every day he would get up and then go out to his garden to pick some strawberries which he would eat for breakfast. After that he would go out with his bow and arrows and shoot a rabbit, which he would take home and stew up with potatoes and onions from his garden. After eating, he would settle down to read until it was time for him to go to bed.
Then one day Thomas couldn't find any rabbits. He looked and looked and looked and looked but still he could not find any. He started to get hungry but he didn't want to go into the elf village. He didn't want to go where the other elves were. But he was hungry so he did go, even though he was nervous.
"Hello Thomas!" said one elf.
"It's good to see you again!" said another.
"We haven't seen you in such a long time!" said a third.
Thomas was so relieved that the other elves liked him. He explained that he was hungry, so the other elves quickly brought him some food. They sat and talked all night. Three days later, Thomas moved into the village. And he is still living there today.
