The whole NaNoWriMo thing seemed like such a good idea. Only it's now the tenth, and I've managed a grand total of 300 words so far, and I'm going to scrap them, because they were going nowhere. So the options that I have open to me are to either give the whole thing up as a bad job, or to write 50,000 words of utter, utter drivel. I mean the sort of thing that has a lead character called Mary-Sue and ends with "and then she woke up and it was all just a dream". And those are the good bits.

But which do I do? Write crap, or give up? The choice, dear reader, is yours.

Should I try to write 50,000 words of utter garbage, or should I give up?

Give up
Write the crap

(blah. bad winamp choosing music like this)

Your early work's supposed to be crap. If you can, get ahold of "The Early Asimov", vols. 1 and 2; or compare the Comedy of Errors to Hamlet or King Lear; or listen to Bob Dylan's self-titled debut album against "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan".

Do all these in succession and it's like putting your brain in a Finnish sauna.
