I think there's probably a large ammount for me to update with. First and foremost, I'm back down in Canterbury, which is a relief. Trains were, of course, evil, but I'm feeling unnaturally content to be back in my ridiculously small, cramped, untidy room in this dump of a city. It may not be much, but it's mine (well, it's not; it's rened; but it effectively is) and it's full of all my stuff (mmm, stuff </materialist>). This is good, because I was getting dangerously close to falling back into quite nasty depression being up north. I was having real difficulty motivating myself to eat, which I haven't had for a whiole. Hopefully this is going to be going away soon. I think it will. It's nice to have a non-stone-age computer back again. Good stuff.

My mouth is now mostly better. I've had all the dental work doing that I needed, and the gum around where I had my wisdom teeth out is heeling up nicely. It's still a bit sore when bits of what I can only presume is jaw bone sticks through as the gum reforms into shape, but nothing too bad. I'm also still getting trouble from my jaw from time to time, but not as badly or as frequently as I was doing. I think it's fairly safe to say that the tooth was the original problem, and then for one reason or another that caused me problems with my jaw too. Hopefully, now that the original cause has been fixed, the secondary problem will go away with time too.

University stuff is progressing nicely. I contacted Lancashire LEA to figure out finances stuff. Turns out that because I've been twice before, I wouldn't be elligible for any of the means tested contribution towards fees. I'd probably have a fairly good chance of appealing this on medical grounds if I wanted to, but as I wouldn't be eligible for any of the means tested stuff anyway because of my parents' income, that isn't really an issue. What is good is that I won't be expected to pay the full £10,000 per year of fees or whatever it is that they charge foreign students, or people who they refuse to give anything to for whatever reason.

Currently it's looking most likely that I'm going to end up in Lancaster. There are two main reasons for this. The first is the boring old fashioned one about liking the university and the course and stuff like that. The second is that my parents have suggested that they buy me an apartment there. Or rather, they've suggested that since they're going to be paying my rent anyway, they'd prefer to buy somewhere instead, and throw the money at a mortgage, rather than into a black hole. I think that the idea is to be able to sell it on at some point and recoup the money, rather than to buy it for me as such, but it would be a much nicer place for me to live than anywhere else. The reason that this is a whoe lot more feasible in Lancaster than anywhere else I mght want to go is that my dad is in the building trade, and his company has some nice bedroom appartments in Lancaster being released around august. So that would be nice. Apparently they're right near the river, the bus station, Sainsbury's and a pub.

I'm going to be moving out of Canterbury and going back up north some time at the end of July. It currently looks as if the weekend of the 26th is the most likely time for that. That would leave me about two months between leaving here and going off to university, which I'd have to figure out what to do with. Hopefully g and visit people -- I need to figure that out at some point.

Sitting amongst thesurprisingly small pile of mail waiting for me when I got back here, were my LiveJournal tshirts, which are nifty (and I'm wearing one now), an a "zine" thingy (I use scare quotes because that word scares me because I'm not sure I understand it) from the inimitable anotheryourself, which is also nifty, in a strange sort of way.

I'd also like to announce that I've had this song (total eclipse of the heart) in my head for about four days now, which is very frustrating.

I decided to read Usenet earlier today, which I haven't done for months. Literally the third message that I read contained someone saying that they miss me. How's about that for an ego boost?

I think that's everything. Only because this entry is far too large and diverse to actually get many comments, I'm going to do a Pointless Poll(tm).

zine is short of "magazine," and refers to its existence as a small self-published document, sort of like a magazine, but not quite.

I miss you also. A lot.

<random comment> The person who posted they miss you must live somewhere near me. freenet.carleton.ca is Carleton University's freenet. I used to go to Carleton, and still live in the same city. </random comment>

Think that's bad? Try it in German about vampires! (And yes, that refers to the music.)

That sounds... scary, but strangely compelling. You have an mp3?

Annoyingly, there's no option for "I'm not entirely sure whether I'd like to [tie|be tied] up etc. [by] rho, but I'd like to find out" :)

I missed you too *pout* you need to update more often.

Cool i know where your dad is talking about and i think it would be a great area for you.

I love Lancaster, the only reason we don't live there is Jaz's work. If you want any advice about it i'd be more than happy to give it. There is a lot to do in Lancaster to get you out of your flat ;-) You dont fully realise how stress free and calming it is until you don't live there.

(I even know a very good dentist in Lancaster!)
