I've acquired some new furniture for my flat recently (bought for me by my ever-generous parents) (craptastic pictures of some of it, for those wo care). Amongst this furniture, I have a new bookcase. This was very definitely needed. It's not that I didn't previously have a lot of bookshelves. I did. There were just two problems:

1. One set has shelves which are too small for anything other than the smallest conventionally sized paperback, due to a fencepost error on behalf of the person who put them together. This is not fixable, since they're a part of my wardrobe (the outside side wall of the wardrobe, in fact) and are very definitely fitted.

2. I also have a lot of books.

Earlier on today, I moved my vast book mountain from on my table into my new bookcase. There's something amazingly decadent about putting books onto a shelf in no order, with complete disregard to their contents and size. It's as if I'm reveling in having enough space to no longer need to carefully try to fit books onto their optimal shelf, to ensure maximum storage capacity. Lo! I shall put Garfield next to Principles of Qunatum Mechanics and I shall enjoy doing so! It's all very liberating.
