Snow

I went to the supermarket just earlier, and when I stepped out of the door, I was surprised to see snow. There was something else odd as well, though, which I couldn't quite put my finger on at first, but then it hit me: there were no birds. See, I always walk to the supermarket along the river. It's a slightly longer route, but much more pleasant. And there are always ducks and gulls on the water, pigeons along the path, and normally a songbird or two in the hedge. Today there was just the somewhat eerie lack of bird sounds. (Though I did spot one gull hiding under a bridge, and one sparrow cowering in the hedge.)

By the time I'd finished my shopping, maybe 20 minutes later, it had stopped snowing, and the birds were all back out in force again. From this, we conclude that birds are far more sensible than people.

Apart from pheasants. I know it's a close call, but I maintain that pheasants have a little less sense than people.

Peacocks are avian chavs, and their tails are their bling.

hee hee - is that why part of the bling thing is those super tacky fake peacock feather earrings with shiny shiny stones on them.

Shiny in a bad way in this instance.

I've never seen them. I count myself extremely fortunate for this.
