Today has been a bad brain day. It's been one of those days where everything seems like far too much effort and as if nothing is ever going to work out properly so nothing is worth bothering with anyway. One of those days where you just don't want to get out of bed, and for every second that you are out of bed, you want nothing more than to go back to bed.

Oh well. I did finally manage to drag myself out of my pit and off to the supermarket, thus fending off the impending starvation for another week. Plus, Ben and Jerries ice cream was still on special offer, and as everyone knows, chocolate ice cream makes everything better. Except toothache, nausea and hyperglycaemia.

Also, have I mentioned here how much over-heated supermarkets piss me off? They're right up there on my list of irrational annoyances at the moment. I think I dislike them even more than railway stations called "Parkway", though possibly not quite as much as the non-word "bacteriums". It's incredibly obnoxious to have to wrap up warm to walk through the cold to the supermarket, only to find that the thermostats there are set to "let's melt tungsten!" Personally, I blame cars for this, but then I'll blame cars for pretty much anything.

I had a dream this morning that I was back in high school and had to do a science project on a topic of my choosing. I decided that I was going to do a comparison of different economic models used by various MMORPGs, concentrating specifically on World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Maple Story and Second Life. I'm not quite sure what to make of this, other tha the fact that I'm a huge dork, even when I'm unconscious.

I think I had something else I wanted to say here, but I can't remember what it was.

I'd kinda like to see that project. Perhaps I will dream I'm your teacher, marking it, tonight?

That would be a great project (under the category of things Crow Totally Cannot Do Herself but Would Love to See Done)... and just so your flist knows, you are frighteningly good at Scrabble.

I started a game against yo two days ago. Do keep up there at the back.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one she tramples into a little tiny grease stain beats on a regular basis. At least, being USAnian, I can blame my losses on not playing SOWPODS as often. Right? *looks pathetic*

chocolate ice cream makes everything better. Except hyperglycaemia.

It might not do my diabetes any good, but it sure as hell makes me feel better. :D

I like your dreams.
When I was high on a mix of salvia and pot, I saw little bouncing rainbows on the ceiling and little bouncing power symbols on the floor. Guess I'm a geeky little gay elf.

Sweetie, you are a geeky little gay elf, and that's what everyone loves about you.

You think? I've always thought she was more of a pixie than an elf...

For that value of "elf," I mean, yes. Less like a Tolkien elf -- not quite so pretentious -- and more like the ElfQuest ones, or whatever the hell Link is.

Ooooh, she'd make a fantastic Link. Will have to suggest that for next Halloween.

(Oh, and he's a Hylian. My geekitude extends to Zelda.)

over-heated supermarkets

Personally, I blame cars for this, but then I'll blame cars for pretty much anything.

They seem to have weird ideas about temperature in the States, too -- at least, the stereotype I have of them is that they heat their houses too much in the winter and cool them too much in summer.

So in summer you have the opposite: you can go around in a T-shirt but have to put on a woolly jumper to go inside a house because of the insane level of air-conditioning.

Though I suppose it's possible to blame cars for that, too.

have you read edward castronova on the economics of virtual worlds?

he calculated that norrath (EQ), at it's peak, if it were a real nation, would have the 77th largest GDP.
