February 14 can only mean one thing

I have a few annual traditions here in my journal. More or less every year, on March 28 (my birthday) I'll post the lyrics to The Happy Happy Birthday Song by The Arrogant Worms (this is usually followed up with rahaeli leaving a comment mentioning the Birthday Dirge). A few days later, on March 31, I tend to make a post griping about April Fools Day (this tends to be followed by burr86 griping about people who gripe about April Fools Day). Some things just never change.

Of all my daft little traditions, though, by far my favourite has to be February 14, which long time readers will recognise as Bad Poetry Day. I started this in 2004, so this year will be the fifth incarnation. Over that time, including today, I have now written 23 dreadful poems to commemorate the day. The thing that baffles me most, of course, is that people actually seem to appreciate these bad poems, and people have even been known to ask me if I will be continuing the tradition. You're all crazy.

I'm so gad it's finally February 14, because I've had one of these poems in my head for quite literally months, and have been waiting to share it with eager anticipation. Yes, I am aware how incredibly dorky that makes me. So, without further ado, let's get this party started.

Rose with dip
Make interesting crudites
This poem rhymes
But only to Luddites

---

Roses speak French
Violets eat veal
Sugar plays football
This poem's surreal

---

Violets are blue
Roses are pink
If I wore my short skirt
Would he buy me a drink?

---

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Haiku are short

---

Roses are dead
Violets are too
I warned you 'bout flushing
Toxic waste down the loo

---

Jesus is godly
Valentine's a saint
Their co-option by Hallmark
Would make them both faint

---

Row scissor read
Vile letter blew
Speelign iz hrad
an'd, Gram-mar: Is? too
