Things that are awesome

So I've had an idea. LiveJournal tends to be filled with a whole lot of negativity a lot of the time. So I want to try to do something more positive. Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to list 5 things which are awesome, together with a brief explanation of why you think they are awesome. Anything goes; you can choose people or places or animals or concepts or TV shows or anything you want. The only criteria is that they all have to be awesome.

Here, I'll start with 5 completely random awesome things:

1. Hobnobs. I love hobnobs. For those not in the know, they are yummy yummy oaty biscuits with one side covered in chocolate. They are extremely delicious and extremely addictive.

2. Thingvellir. One of the more memorable places I've visited in my life. On the one hand, it was the seat of the Althing, one of the world's oldest parliaments. On the other, it also happens to sit right on the boundary between the Eurasian and Norht American tectonic plates, giving you a great view of geology in action.

3. Okapis. Little miniature giraffes wearing stripy stockings? What's not to love?

4. Lasers. Lasers are neat. The thing I mostly love as lasers is that they were originally devised from pure science, without any particular application in mind. Now they're used for everything from hair removal to compact discs to little pointers used to torment cats.

5. Giving people birthday presents they aren't expecting. I did this earlier today to kamara and it made her spaz, which was fun.

Your turn now. 5 awesome things. Go go go!

1. The thing I talked about in the channel, but which I'm not going into here. That was hella awesome.

2. Regents Park in spring (Feeder lyrics!) with a bunch of really cool people. It was fun and relaxed and something different to do, though next time hopefully I'll have caught up on sleep ahead of time and can bet there for more of it.

3. My really cool people. They're so awesome I have to include it twice. I have had a happy weekend. I'm pretty thrilled that I managed to get 20 people to congregate and be merry.

4. My company, and my job, and the people I work with. I like what we do, think we do it pretty damn well, and see lots of potential for it continuing to rock. I like the people enough to volunteer to sit on hold to Blackberry tech support for an hour, after I should have finished, on a Friday night, so two of them could go and do the other thing they had to do before either of them could go home. And we're all going to see the Foo Fighters, who are awesome!

5. London. I wouldn't have any of this if I hadn't moved here.

I'm not very filled with negativity at the moment :)
