In which humanity behaves as humanity
road sign, I'm with stupid
Two news stories have particularly caught my attention recently, as prime examples of the spectacular stupidity of humanity.

First there's this story, in which the plight of a footballer being paid a reported £120,000 per week is described as "slavery" because he's actually expected to honour a contract he willingly signed. Poor little diddums.

Then there's this one, in which a man receives death threats for his grievous mistreatment of a communion wafer. Sorry, Catholicism, but transubstantiation is right up there with Xenu on the list of "most ludicrously implausible religious beliefs". (Also, is anyone else seeing the irony of issuing death threats on behalf of Jesus? Yes? Good.)

I was going to put a poll here asking which of these stories was more grievously stupid, but I decided that it might make a few too many brains explode, and I don't want to be the one responsible for cleaning the splats of grey matter off the walls.

Very true. Christianity in general (or at least, almost all the strains I've encountered) is a religion based on controlling people via fear.

This is just one more sign from above that I need to read Good Omens.
